Whole-House Humidifiers
Furnace humidifiers compared on type, output and the replacement water panel each one uses.
A whole-house humidifier mounts on the furnace ductwork and humidifies every room the system serves. Bypass units use the furnace blower and a bypass duct; fan-powered units add their own fan for more output; steam units boil water and work even when the furnace isn't heating.
Each evaporative model uses a specific water panel, replaced at least once a heating season. Installation involves a water line, a drain and wiring, and is usually a job for a heating contractor.
